About VSCA
The Virtual Sports Car Association, short VSCA, is a league that organizes a variety of sim racing online championships.
Established in 2021, VSCA was created to provide club-level competition to the amateur to semi-pro level sim racer with the support of strong regulations and organization.
The league's premier series is the VSCA SportsCar Championship, which is designed to emulate the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship as closely as possible, based on cars, classes, schedule and regulations.
As one of the rare exceptions among privately run sim racing leagues, VSCA runs all its series championships on calendar-year based schedules. The winter months are designed to provide organizers and teams with an extended offseason over the holidays and turn of the year.
As of 2024, VSCA exclusively uses the iRacing Motorsports Simulator for all of its racing events and competitions. Therefore, all competitors are required to have an active iRacing subscription and the cars and tracks used by VSCA.
VSCA's core philosophy focuses on achieving the highest level of realism and immersion possible through the simulation, the league's rules and regulations and presentation.
A non-toxic atmosphere and community that is welcoming to all those who are friendly and respectful on- and off the track is one of the most important focal points of VSCA and its team of organizers.
This means, all members are required during registration, to confirm they have read and agree to the Series Regulations, VSCA Sporting Code and VSCA Privacy Policy and that they will accept future changes made to these by the organizers, as needed.
In 2024 the VSCA SportsCar Championship celebrated its third season with a schedule of 11 races in four classes (GTP, LMP2, GT PRO and GT AM) and three championships – the overall SportsCar Championship, the Endurance Cup (Daytona, Sebring, Watkins Glen, Miami, Road Atlanta) and the Sprint Cup (Long Beach, Laguna Seca, COTA, Road America and VIR).
Five teams won races in the 2024 GTP series championship. In the LMP2 category wins were earned by four different teams. GT PRO saw five different race-winning teams while the first season of the newly established GT AM class also saw a total of five different teams pick up at least one race win.
As of November 2024, VSCA has established itself as one of the more popular privately-run sim racing leagues for the average-rated amateur and semi-pro sim racer. In August 2024 VSCA welcomed its 1,000th member.
Extensive news coverage about events, drivers and teams in VSCA, including race reports and news articles on VSCAracing.com, social media content to attract partners and sponsors, are part of the public presentation of the league. The entirety of the 2024 VSCA SportsCar Championship season was broadcast live on GreenFlag TV. More races may possibly be broadcast live in the future, however as of November 2024 there are no concrete plans.
For the 2025 season, the VSCA SportsCar Championship returns to a true IMSA schedule and will host a total of 12 races, with the 24 Hours of Daytona kicking off the second season on January 11th, 2025. Of those 12 races, each class will compete in nine championship rounds and the non-points event The Roar Before The 24 on January 4th, 2025.
The VSCA SportsCar Championship features all of the state-of-the-art GTP cars on iRacing, for its top class, GTP. For LMP2 class competition, the Dallara P217 is used while GT PRO and GT AM, respectively use the current fleet of GT3 cars on iRacing. In total, the series grid size is 55 cars total.
For Full-Course Yellows (FCY) the series uses a customized procedure, that needs to be studied and understood by all teams and competitors.
Furthermore Race Control’s live duties during a race is limited to handling FCYs and intentional wrecking and text chat/voice chat violations. All other incident reports will be reviewed by Race Control after the race and post-race penalties will be issued for any found infractions.
As of the 2025 Season, all drivers who have never competed in VSCA before, or within the past 7+ months will be required to have an iRacing Sports Car iRating between 1500 and 4250. After a driver’s first start in VSCA they no longer are required to maintain a minimum or maximum iRating, so long they do not take a break of 7+ months from VSCA competition, after which their VSCA driver rating will reset.
