The No. 10 BMW V8 Hybrid of Race4Cat Motorsport started from pole after Marc Freixa posted the fastest lap in VR7UAL Pole Qualifying for the 2-hour-40-minute race at WeatherTech Raceway. Together with team-mate Joan Guerrero, who made his first-ever VSCA start in the race, the team led 22 laps en route to the team's first win of the season.

JO Motorsports and their No. 99 BMW with Sheamus Power and Jonathan Oshalim crossed the finish line just over 5 seconds behind, continuing the team's strong season and claiming a third consecutive top-five finish after P5 at Long Beach and P4 at Sebring. The Irish-American drivers duo even led the most laps (66) in the race, but ultimately had to give way to winners Race4Cat Motorsport from Spain.

Champion Motorsports rejoiced over the return of Thomas Fisher in the No. 79 BMW after the British-Canadian driver missed Long Beach. At the end of the race the team had more reason to celebrate in form of a third-place finish and another trip to the podium, together with Fisher's team-mate Michael Parker.

The final LMDh class car to finish on the lead lap was the No. 7 Grizzly Motorsports machine of Joshua Wolf and Treavor Vavrosky, who took fourth place.

The race was slowed by one caution relatively early in the event, only about 25 minutes after the start. As the rest of the race remained green, fuel-mileage came into play, putting the strategy plans of all teams to the test.

In total there were eight lead changes among five different cars in LMDh class competition.

In the SportsCar Championship standings the No. 10 car now moves into P7, thanks to a nice points payday in the Californian desert, but still has a 360-point gap to new championship leaders Mayer Simspeed Performance, who finished nine laps down after a crash but still earned a P5 finish. Champion Motorsports sit in second, 89 points back while World of SimRacing Team and their No. 51 BMW - who had a nightmare crash involving their GTD class team-mates No. 151 BMW at Laguna Seca - hold third position 92 points back.

The next VSCA SportsCar Championship round takes place in two weeks at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. The VR7UAL Sports Car Challenge will be broadcast live on Apex Racing TV.
