Joel Real Timing (JRT)
Joel Real Timing (JRT)
Provider of Live Timing & Scoring

JRT is an application for iRacing. It's not just a simple timing & scoring solution but can be used in-race in a variety of ways, also to help with strategy and comptitive analytics. JRT also works with replays, which could also be useful to overlays on videos after a race or to comment races after the event.

Real-Time Timing/Scoring

First, JRT is a live timing and scoring software, that works in real-time. Many other timing solutions update only once per lap. Not with JRT! JRT updates data several times per second, giving competitors a significant advantage!

Delta Graphic

This graphic is useful to know in one quick glance, the competitor's own relative pace in comparison to other drivers they are battling with. No more need to look and memorize the gap you see in the iRacing box, that is not accurate anyway. Additionally, JRT allows the comptitor to look beyond this in the timing table and find drivers that could potentially struggle.

Calculator and Trackmap

The calculator is a more classical feature linked to the trackmap - a real-time visual representation of the race track displaying the position of all cars on track. This feature allows the competitor to display a ghost car that will give them the location they'll have after the next pit stop. This is calculated with the fuel required and the tires changes or not. This gives the user the chance to anticipate and know if they will be stuck in traffic after the pit stop. The Trackmap can be also be displayed as a temporary overlay over the timing/scoring table by pressing a cuztomizable button, if the user has no secondary screen available.

Dashboard

The dashboard contains all the information and data that can be useful for the driver while racing, essentially to be used as a custom-made in-car dashboard display. The dashboard can (but is not limited to) display the following data:

  • best and last lap time of other drivers
  • gaps in real time
  • deltas with the best and the last lap
  • overall position and class position
  • intelligent shift indicator
  • flags displayed via the shift indicator
  • calculator
  • weather information

Button Box

This is a virtual button box that is recognized as real device using vJoy drivers, allowing sim racers to have a virtual button box, eliminating the need to buy an expensive hardware button box.

Logging Files

Laptimes and fuel consumption data is stored in csv files which may be used to analyze past sessions.

Events and Replay Control

JRT is capable of displaying interesting events in any session such as lead changes, driver swaps, incidents, pit stops, etc. Additionally JRT also can be used to access the iRacing sim's replay controls.

Photo Mode with Motion Blur

To create ultra-realistic motion-blur screenshots in iRacing, JRT and its photo mode can be used. This will create pictures of the highest quality, much better than the native motion blur provided by the iRacing sim.

Compatibility

JRT has been tested on Windows 7, 8 and 10 successfully in 64-bit version where iRacing is installed, and using Firefox, Chrome or Safari browsers. The Timing can be read on any tablet, smartphone or computer connected on the local network using one of the browsers cited earlier. It's not working with Internet Explorer.

JRT may not work on old tablets if the browser can't be updated with a recent version.

It's not working on 32-bit operating systems.
