Teams in both classes will compete for the GRID Pole in all eight championship rounds in open qualifying sessions, except Daytona where Qualifying session will be closed.
At the conclusion of the 2022 season, the GRID Pole Award will be awarded to the LMP2 and GT3 class teams that earned the most GRID Pole positions over the course of the 2022 season.
“We are very excited about this new partnership with GRID Engineering. It’s another step for VSCA to strengthen its footprint and make the SportsCar Championship an attractive series for amateur sim racers to compete in.”, VSCA Co-Founder and President Benjamin Fischer said.
“We’re exceptionally happy to have a fantastic partner like GRID Engineering on our side and believe the GRID Pole Award will be very exciting to watch over the year, to see who comes out on top.”
About GRID Engineering
GRID Engineering began as a sole proprietorship and quickly transferred to a partnership after founder Brandon Cawker brought on board long-time sim guru friend Nick.
GRID Engineering was recently acquired by Sim-lab B.V. with the intent of scaling the business and bringing out more high-end sim gear at very reasonable prices making their products available to a wider range of customers worldwide.
The company has recently changed its branding to “GRID” or formally “GRID by Sim-lab”. GRID is an electronics brand specializing in steering wheels, DDUs (Data Display Units), dash boxes and more.
“GRID is ecstatic to come on board and sponsor the 2022 VSCA SportsCar Championship GRID Pole Award. After we have done our research on VSCA, reading the regulations and how things appear to be done, it was an easy decision for us to commit to this series.”, said Vice President of Product Management, Brandon Cawker.
“We are going to announce prizes in the near future for the award, but we’re already excited about what’s ahead and can’t wait for the 24 Hours of Daytona!”
