Due to unexpected last-minute license and driver requirement issues, William Reinhard and his team from British Columbia, Canada faced the tough reality back in January, that they missed the season-opening 24 Hours of Daytona.
Instead of battling for points and positions in the historic first ever race of the VSCA SportsCar Championship, Reinhard and his drivers Joshua Wilkie, Lee Huber and Riley Palmer left Daytona early in major disappointment and thoughts of what could have been.
In the weeks since, the team has been hard at work to put the setback behind them and meet the license and driver requirements for competition at Sebring. And by the sounds of it, the team appears to be ready now for the second championship round.
“Yeah, it’s a bummer that we missed out on Daytona, but we are feeling good about the coming race weekend at Sebring and are looking forward to getting some rubber on the track this week.”, team manager and president William Reinhard said on Monday.
For Reinhard, it’s about his investment finally starting to pay off, as he has worked on getting his team, which was originally established in 2020, ready for competition in the VSCA SportsCar Championship since October of last year.
Being asked, what the team’s goal was for Sebring, specifically, the 24-year-old Dallas, Texas native said:
“We’re looking to just get through the whole twelve hours.”
“It’s a small track, but it’s probably one of the more technical tracks on the endurance schedule. And since we missed Daytona, we haven’t had the chance to race wheel to wheel with the other teams.”
“So we hope to get into the groove with the other drivers and handle the competitive racing that we watched back at Daytona.”
The No. 54 Hometown Hero’s Racing Dallara P217 is expected to first hit the track in Thursday’s Free Practice 2. The 12 Hours of Sebring are scheduled for Saturday, March 26th and will take the green flag at 14:00 GMT.
