Located just outside of Lexington, Ohio, the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course will play host to Round 4 of this year’s VSCA SportsCar Championship, leaving four more races ahead of the drivers and teams afterwards.

The big story heading into the weekend is of course that Apex Racing TV will be broadcasting the race live, from start to finish, making this the first ever VSCA event in history to come with live commentary.

“We’re obviously very excited. This is a big step for VSCA. We’re a very young league and if it wasn’t for our incredible members, nobody would know of this league.”, VSCA founder Benjamin Fischer said.

“But here we are. Thanks to the entry fees and the fantastic grid we have, we are able to have this broadcast on this weekend. And we know the folks at Apex Racing TV will do a phenomenal job.”

After a crash-filled and at times bizarre race at Laguna Seca last month, teams and drivers and series officials have been involved in talks and discussions how to improve the racing quality for the next race.

Mid-Ohio with its narrow track and many blind corners and elevation changes is regarded as one of the most challenging multi-class courses on the schedule.

Series officials have cracked down with a number of measures going into Mid-Ohio, trying to ensure the two-hour 40-minute race at Mid-Ohio will be a success.

Going into Round 4 as overall championship leaders, the No. 747 Dallara of Lone Wolf Motorsport has to be counted as one of the top favorites for the win on Saturday.

In three starts so far, the team has garnered three top-tens and one win.

But Element SimRacing and their Laguna Seca winning No. 7 Dallara P217 will want to have a word in the discussion for the win, despite acknowledging that this weekend’s race will probably be the toughest of the entire season.

And then there is of course Race4CAT Motorsport with their No. 10 and No. 11 Dallara P2 Prototypes, winning at Sebring in April and earning top-fives at Laguna Seca.

In GT3, championship leaders Torque Freak Racing and their No. 6 Porsche team will look to take full control of the season. After winning their first race at Laguna Seca, they have a too-close-for-comfort twenty-point lead over Kinetic Racing’s No. 67 Porsche. But they have shown strong pace, even better consistency recently and therefore have to be considered one of the favorites at a track like Mid-Ohio, that rewards smart strategy and staying out of trouble, more than anything else.

FR13DA Sports Group and their No. 13 Meguiars Porsche will look to split up the top duo and take their first victory of the season, after showing again and again they are one of the fastest cars on the track this year, in varying circumstances.

The 13-turn, 2.250 mile (3.621 km) Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course will also welcome the No. 525 Dallara and No. 211 Dallara P2 Prototypes of DriveTrainer Motorsport and Night-Blind Racing to the series grid, as they make their series debut.

In GT3, the No. 151 Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo of FBP Racing returns after missing Sebring and Laguna Seca. The German team was one of the contenders for the win at Daytona in January, before being victimized by a crash while leading.

For MoneyHouse Grafix Racing and HAC Racing, it will also be the first-time on the series grid as both teams debut their No. 45 Mercedes AMG GT3 and No. 111 Ferrari, respectively.

The VSCA Sports Car Challenge at Mid-Ohio will take to the green flag at 12:00 pm EDT / 16:00 GMT Saturday.
