Just one day after Canada Day, on-track action at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park started on Saturday with Free Practice 1 for next Saturday’s VSCA Canadian Sports Car Challenge.
For the first time in the league, the VSCA SportsCar Championship travels outside the United States for a race. A bulk of the teams were not yet present at the track on Saturday but are expected to arrive by Thursday’s Free Practice 2.

Making the most of Saturday’s session, Precision Racing eSports (formerly Night-Blind Racing) and their No. 211 Dallara P217 posted the fastest overall lap time at 1:06.909, edging out Fischer Motorsports USA and the No. 14 Dallara by two tenths of a second.
Champion Motorsports’ No. 79 Dallara was third-fastest. Championship leaders Element SimRacing and their No. 7 Prototype was fifth-fastest.
In GT3, it was HAC Racing making some noise. The New York-based team that joined VSCA competition just a couple of months ago, claimed the top spot on the speed charts on Saturday. Richard Franke in the No. 111 Ferrari set a lap time of 1:14.288 that no other GT3 team was able to beat.
DRG Racing came in second, just 0.164 seconds slower, in a successful first outing of the brand-new Mercedes AMG GT3 Evo on the track.
Marc Johnson and the No. 78 BMW M4 GT3 of Champion Motorsports was third fastest at 0.355 seconds off the leaders.
The VSCA Canadian Sports Car Challenge will take place at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park at 16:00 GMT / 12 pm noon ET on July 9th.
