A total of 46 cars are entered into the second-to-last race of the 2022 VSCA SportsCar Championship season, which at the same time is the finale VSCA Sprint Cup race of the year.

In P2 Prototype Class a total of 16 Dallara P217 will battle for points and victory in the two hour and 40 minute race at Road America.

Pnumatik Motorsports and their No. 41 Dallara team meanwhile have confirmed they will not return to the series this season.

Likewise, the No. 2 Dallara of FR13DA Sports Group, who has not raced since Mid-Ohio in May, also will not participate at Road America.

Another organization,DriveTrainer Motorsports has withdrawn both its No. 525 P2 Prototype and No. 252 GT3 entry and will be missing on the grid in Round 7.

In GT3 class a total of 30 cars are entered for next Saturday’s race, with two new entries joining the grid: The No. 359 Porsche of Torque Freak Racing and the No. 4 BMW of Delta Racing, marking the first team from Brazil to join the grid since BlueCaw Motorsports was on the grid in the 24 Hours of Daytona.

Meanwhile, surprising news hit the series paddock in recent days as Danish team Flex Motorsports announced its withdrawal from the series for the remainder of the 2022 season. The team’s No. 321 Ferrari crashed and retired early at Mosport, after an unforced driver error.

“We unfortunately see a drop in participation during the summer period and we do the best we can to convince teams to stay committed to the season, even if they are mathematically not in the championship battle anymore.”, said VSCA co-founder Benjamin Fischer.

“Overall, we are quite happy though, with a grid of hopefully 46 cars in August. We certainly could do a lot worse. We’ve also seen some new entries jump at the opportunity to grab one of these available grid spots, so fresh blood is coming in, too.”

The Elkhart Lake Sports Car Challenge will be broadcast live on Apex Racing TV and take the green flag next Saturday, August 13th at 16:00 GMT / 12:00 pm noon ET.
