The Roar Before The 24 at Daytona marks the first official VSA race of the year and will set the starting grid for the series’ marquee event, the 24 Hours of Daytona one week later.

The event will go a distance of one hour and 40 minutes, with a full grid of 55 cars taking the green flag. When this happens, fans will get to see a number of changes to the series compared to last season.

Porsche, Acura and Cadillac join GTP class

The top class of the grid, GTP, has seen new prominent additions by Porsche, Acura and Cadillac each bringing their state-of-the-art GTP race cars to the series. Currently, there will be not a single BMW entry, in a drastic change to the class compared to last year.

Reigning series champions Grizzly Motorsports will bring back the No. 1 GTP entry, to defend their overall and GTP class championship in 2024. Mayer Simspeed Performance and their No. 3 GTP entry that switched to Porsche, will look to repeat as 24 Hours of Daytona champions - a feat that has never been accomplished in the history of VSCA.

GT field now split into two classes, GT PRO and GT AM

One other significant change will be the split of GTD into GT PRO and GT AM for the 2024 season. Porsche, BMW and Audi will be represented in the GT PRO class while Mercedes, Lamborghini and Ferrari will headline GT AM.

Reigning GTD class champions Screeching Moose Motorsports and their No. 5 Mercedes will join the action in GT AM class, while defending 24 Hours of Daytona champions No. 67 Kinetic Racing and their Porsche will headline the teams to compte in GT PRO.

LMP2 Class returns with Dallara P217

One of the most exciting classes to watch last season, the LMP2 class returns as the second-to-top class in the series, with twelve Dallara P217 taking the grid on Saturday. With last year’s champions Trading Paints Racing and vice champions Albrecht Motorsports both moving to GTP, all eyes will be on last season’s third place finishers, the No. 14 Fischer Motorsport Dallara as the top entry returning to the class this season.

New Full-Course Yellow (FCY) Procedures

VSCA is introducing a new Full-Course Yellow (FCY) procedure with the 2024 season that will make its debut in Saturday’s event. The new procedure utilizes the iRacing pace car and is expected to see overall longer Full-Course Yellows but a more randomized approach by Race Control calling caution periods, compared to last year.

Official race results will set 24 Hours of Daytona grid

The official race results of The Roar Before The 24 will determine the starting grid for next weekend’s 24 Hours of Daytona, making this Saturday’s non-points exhibition event relevant for all teams, looking for the best possible starting position for the longest race of the season.

GreenFlagTV to broadcast The Roar Before The 24 live

In accordance with a deal announced earlier this offseason, between VSCA, GreenFlag TV and Twin-Busch USA, The Roar Before The 24 and all other races of the 2024 season will be broadcast live on the American sim racing broadcast provider on YouTube.

The broadcast of this Saturday’s event is scheduled to launch at 15:50 GMT with the green flag scheduled for 16:00 GMT.
