With a possibility of rain in the forecast for this weekend’s endurance classic, the 12 Hours of Sebring - one of the toughest races of the year - may prove even more of a challenge than usual.

The weather forecast for race day predicts a chance of rain of up to 52%, more specifically towards the second half of the race. This would mark the first time ever in the history of VSCA, a race will see rain, adding a new experience for the drivers and teams in the series.

Even without taking rain into account, the 12 Hours of Sebring has proved to be a challenge even for the best drivers and teams these past two years.

A late caution in last year’s edition of the event threw a wrench into the plans of some contenders, mixing things up the final laps and eventual race results.

Two years ago, a massive wreck in the final stages of the race took out several contenders as well. So what is to be expected for the race’s third edition this weekend?

“We hope drivers, teams and fans will get to see a good show. The racing has been absolutely thrilling so far this weekend and we’ve seen incredible battles race in, race out. We expect more of the same this weekend. And of course rain may make everything even more unpredictable than it is.”, said series director Benjamin Fischer.

Coming off a huge victory at Long Beach, the team’s first in the series, HAC Racing and the #111 Cadillac will look to keep the momentum going and maintain their GTP class championship lead as well.

In LMP2 Gowin Racing and their #18 Dallara are off to a perfect season start, winning Daytona and Long Beach back-to-back and creating a 170-point lead in the championship. Can the team out of Wilmington, North Carolina keep it going and keep the competition at bay?

The closest and most exciting points battle so far this season, things are unpredictable in GT PRO class. The #84 Fischer Motorsport Porsche took second place at Long Beach and leads the championship standings, by a mere nine points over last year’s 12 Hours of Sebring winners #67 Kinetic Racing Porsche.

Daytona winners #992 DS Racing eSports Team Porsche will look to get back to victory lane as the Endurance Cup makes its return in the series.

GT AM has been all about Screeching Moose Motorsports and the #5 Mercedes so far this season, as the Canadian team has won the first two races of the 2024 season to create a 119-point lead over #29 Firestorm Mercedes.

Will GT AM see a second winner in the third race of the year? Or will the #5 Mercedes find a way to the winner’s circle once again?

This and many other questions will be answered when the grid takes the green flag on Saturday at 14:00 GMT.
