The VSCA SportsCar Championship is set to continue its 2025 season with the fourth annual Engine59 12 Hours of Sebring this weekend. The race will commence at 14:00 GMT and go from the noon hours to night hours, challenging drivers with transitions from daylight to full darkness.
Engine59 Media Partnership
This year's event is proudly sponsored by Engine59 Media, which recently announced an exclusive partnership with VSCA to provide high-quality photography for all 2025 season races. The collaboration promises to enhance the visual experience for fans and participants alike, capturing high-quality photographs of every race this season, including this weekend at Sebring.
Sebring International Raceway: A Legendary Venue
Sebring International Raceway boasts a rich history, evolving from a World War II airbase into one of VSCA's most iconic racing venues. Originally known as Hendricks Army Airfield, the facility was repurposed post-war into a racetrack, retaining sections of the original airfield's runways and taxiways. The track's current layout stretches 3.74 miles across 17 turns, making it one of the most technical and physically demanding circuits on the calendar. Among its most famous corners are the high-speed, bumpy Sunset Bend, where races are often decided in the final moments, and the fast double-apex Le Mans Curve, which challenges drivers to push the limits of grip on the worn-out concrete surface. The track's notorious bumps make vehicle setup and tire management crucial factors for success.
Championship Standings and Contenders
As Round 3 of the 11-race season, the Engine59 12 Hours of Sebring plays a pivotal role in shaping the championship landscape across all classes.
In the series-headlining GTP Class, Velocity Racing's #47 and #48 Ferrari 499P cars have been the dominant force, winning both the season-opening Daytona 24 Hours and the Spritn Cup race, the MV Skinlab Grand Prix of Long Beach, making them strong favorites to complete the hat trick this weekend. However, both cars also faced challenges; the #47 suffered a crash at Daytona, and the #48 encountered an incident at Long Beach, affecting their overall standings.
Currently, the #51 World Of SimRacing Team Cadillac leads the GTP championship standings, showcasing consistent performances in the opening rounds.
The LMP2 Class standings are currently led by the #89 Keystone Simsport team, who secured a remarkable victory at the 24 Hours of Daytona. Their consistent performance has positioned them at the top of the leaderboard. Close behind are the #3 Tri-State Racing Dallara and #23 Twin Turn Simracing Dallara, both showcasing strong performances in the early part of the season.
In GT PRO, the #71 Sim City Racing Porsche leads the championship with 941 points, having achieved two consecutive wins at Daytona and Long Beach. Trailing them are the #44 ACRP Fischer Motorsport with 714 points and the #77 Adrenaline Motorsports with 697 points, both teams eager to close the gap at Sebring.
The GT AM Class championship is currently led by Off in the Esses Racing's #83 McLaren 720S GT3 EVO, following their maiden victory at the 24 Hours of Daytona. They are followed by SWF Motorsports' #94 and Vulture Motorsports' #64, both teams demonstrating strong performances and aiming to challenge for the top spot.
Endurance Cup Battles
The Engine59 12 Hours of Sebring is also the second round of the VSCA Endurance Cup, a special in-series championship that rewards consistency across the season's five longest races: Daytona, Sebring, Watkins Glen, Indianapolis, and Road Atlanta. At Sebring, Endurance Cup points will be awarded at the 4-hour, 8-hour, and finish marks, making strategy and reliability key to success.
Notable Entries and Newcomers
A total of 55 cars are entered across all four classes, including the debut of the #554 RedLab Motorsport Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R in the GT AM class. Defending Sebring race winners from 2024 returning to the grid include the #51 World Of SimRacing Team Cadillac in GTP and the #84 Fischer Motorsport Porsche in GT PRO. Historically the #24 Stow Motorsports BMW in GTP won the race in 2023, the #19 Trading Paints Racing Dallara in LMP2 won the race in 2023, and the #27 Twenty7 Motorsport BMW in GT AM won the first edition of the event in 2022.
Last year's race was marred by chaotic scenes due to heavy rain, adding to Sebring's reputation as one of the most unpredictable venues on the calendar. In 2023, the race ended in dramatic fashion with a full-course yellow period in the closing stages, reshuffling the order just before the checkered flag.
With favorable weather expected this year, teams will be eager to avoid the drama of previous editions and focus on outright speed and strategy.
As the VSCA SportsCar Championship heads to Sebring, the stage is set for another unforgettable endurance racing spectacle, with perfect racing conditions, a deep field of competitors, and championship implications across all categories.
