For the first time since 2023, the VSCA SportsCar Championship will return to Canada this weekend. Round 6 of the 2025 season will take place at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park - the site of quite dramatic scenes in previous editions of the race.

In 2022 chaos erupted in turn two, a mere eight laps into the race, sending one car airborne and severely damaging several others. The race ended in a 0.076 second photo finish in LMP2 class, with Fischer Motorsport taking the win over World of SimRacing Team, while Kinetic Racing celebrated their maiden series victory in GTD class.

One year later, World of SimRacing Team celebrated their maiden GTD class victory, taking victory by a whole lap over the competition. The biggest drama of the day erupted in the closing laps in GTD class between Kinetic Racing and Screeching Moose Motorsports. Battling for second place, the two cars made contact and crashed, resulting in a tow back to the pits for repairs for the former and dropping them to a ninth-place finish. Even after the race, members of both teams went ahead at each other, exchanging words on pit lane.

World of SimRacing Team Cadillac rides momentum into CTMP

Fast forward to the current season: After winning their last two races, the #51 Cadillac of World of SimRacing Team has all the momentum on their side entering CTMP. Leading the GTP championship by a strong 222 points and showing two wins in four starts to their credit, the competition is on notice.

The #79 Digital Chicane Acura - currently second in the championship standings - will look to make up ground in race, but will also have to watch the #48 Velocity Racing Ferrari and #32 Wastegate Racing Cadillac, who are right on their tail in the point standings.

Rising Panda Racing and their #46 Acura are coming off their season-best result, a third place finish, at Laguna Seca and will also be looking to build on this.

The 2.459 mile-long (3.957 km) track located in Bowmanville, Ontario promises to deliver another exciting championship round, with a lot at stake for GTP teams, after skipping the series’ last race at VIR.

LMP2 class back in action, as tight points battle continues

Like the GTP class, the LMP2 class also returns to action at CTMP after not competing at VIR in late April. With their win at Laguna Seca, the #11 Vision 1 Motorsports Dallara took the lead in the championship standings at the expense of the #89 Keystone Simsport Dallara, who dropped from first to second in the points standings.

Right in the middle of all these changes is the #23 Twin Turn Simracing Dallara sitting in second place of the championship, a mere 28 points out of the lead. Can the German team close the gap and go for the top spot at CTMP?

This and many more questions remain to be answered when the green flag drops this Saturday at 1600 GMT.

Sim City Racing still in control, albeit setback at VIR

For the first time this season, Sim City Racing and their #71 Porsche did not win a points race two weeks ago at VIR. Instead, in a race marked by rain chaos in the second half, the #84 Fischer Motorsport Porsche took victory, shrinking the points lead of the former to a still respectable 246 points.

However, three-time race winners Sim City Racing will have no interest in continuing the trend and are going to push hard to win their fourth race of the season at CTMP to extend their points lead.

Suffering a big setback due to drive time violations at VIR, the #183 Blocco Motore Simsport Porsche will have to rely on its strong pace and run a perfect race, in order to cut into their 451-point deficit, while the #157 iRacing Today Motorsports team hold third place in the championship, 422 points behind the leaders, showing great consistency in the likes of three top-tens in four starts so far - a trend the Christiansburg, Virginia team will look to continue this weekend.

With GT AM teams not participating in this weekend’s race, GT PRO class will be the only GT3 category cars on track, before returning to action at Detroit Belle Isle in two weeks.

The two hours and 40 minute-long Canadian Sports Car Grand Prix is scheduled to take the green flag Saturday at 1600 GMT. The weather forecast predicts a 66% of rain, making it a real possibility the series will see its second straight rain race.
