With endurance glory and crucial points on the line, the VSCA field returns to Watkins Glen for six grueling hours of racing before the long summer break.

The VSCA SportsCar Championship heads to the iconic Watkins Glen International circuit this weekend for Round 8 of the 2025 season and Round 3 of the Endurance Cup. As one of the calendar’s most anticipated events, the Six Hours of the Glen promises a test of speed, stamina, and strategy across all four classes. With a hot and dry forecast, tire management and traffic navigation will be more important than ever, especially with a full 52-car field ready to take the green flag on Saturday, June 21 at 16:00 GMT.

This race also marks a pivotal point in the season. Not only are championship standings tightening across several classes, but the event serves as the final challenge before the series enters its ten-week summer hiatus. For some, this is a chance to carry momentum into the break. For others, it’s a final opportunity to stop the bleeding and reset.

Streaking Cadillac, Uncertain Contenders in GTP

The top prototype class is currently ruled by the #51 World Of SimRacing Team Cadillac, a squad riding a dominant three-race winning streak. With a 302-point cushion over its nearest rival, the team has been the benchmark in both speed and execution. That nearest challenger is the #32 Wastegate Racing Cadillac, consistent but not yet victorious, coming off consecutive runner-up finishes at Laguna Seca and CTMP.

Behind them, the #46 Rising Panda Racing Acura seeks redemption after a bruising crash in Canada. While the championship picture may already be starting to slip from their grasp, a strong result at The Glen would go a long way toward reestablishing confidence. Meanwhile, the Endurance Cup battle adds another layer of intrigue, with the #79 Digital Chicane Acura narrowly holding the lead. The team's uncertain future, however, casts a shadow over their campaign, as several entries have already begun disappearing from the grid.

Parity and Pressure in LMP2

The LMP2 category has seen its share of variety this season, with three different winners across seven rounds. The #158 iRacing Today Motorsports Dallara comes into the event buoyed by its maiden victory at Detroit Belle Isle, while the championship-leading #23 Twin Turn Simracing Dallara continues to seek that elusive first win. Holding a 69-point lead, consistency has been the name of the game for Twin Turn, but pressure is mounting from both ahead and behind.

Not far back, the #11 Vision 1 Motorsports Dallara remains a threat, thanks in part to its win at Laguna Seca. In the Endurance Cup, the #89 Keystone Simsport Dallara has claimed the early advantage, winning Daytona and finishing fifth at Sebring. Vision 1 is only three points back in that contest and will look to capitalize on any slip-ups in a class that remains wide open.

GT PRO Teams adapting to Change

GT PRO enters a new era at Watkins Glen, with Michelin’s latest generation of tires making their competitive debut. Teams and drivers will need to adjust quickly, as tire performance and durability could swing the balance over long stints.

The championship-leading #71 Sim City Racing Porsche arrives with a significant points advantage, but has not reached the top step of the podium since March. Both Fischer Motorsport Porsches have gained momentum in recent rounds, with the #44 car winning at CTMP and the #84 claiming victory earlier at VIR. Although the points gap is sizable, momentum may favor the challengers.

In the Endurance Cup standings, Sim City Racing is virtually unassailable, especially with their closest rival—the #67 Kinetic Racing Acura—not entered for this round.

A Heated Title Fight in GT AM

No class may be tighter at the top than GT AM, where the #64 Vulture Motorsports Ford now holds a narrow five-point lead over the #83 Off in the Esses Racing McLaren. The McLaren squad tasted victory at Daytona and came close again at VIR, and will be eager to reclaim the top spot. The #94 SWF Motorsports Porsche, once a championship frontrunner, has slipped to third after recent struggles but cannot be fully counted out just yet.

The Endurance Cup standings in GT AM mirror the tightness of the overall title fight. Off in the Esses Racing leads that battle by six points over the #515 Wolf Motorsport Simracing Porsche, adding another layer of intensity to an already competitive class.

The Challenge Ahead

Watkins Glen International remains a formidable venue, especially in a multi-class environment. Its fast corners and flowing elevation changes demand respect, particularly in heavy traffic. The memory of last year’s massive 18-car incident in the Esses still lingers, serving as a stark reminder of how quickly things can go wrong.

With the heat forecasted to rise and strategy playing a critical role over six hours of racing, the 2025 Six Hours of the Glen has all the ingredients to become a defining chapter in this year’s VSCA SportsCar Championship.
