There are seasons defined by luck, and there are those built by craft. For the #51 World Of SimRacing Team Cadillac V-Series.R, the 2025 VSCA SportsCar Championship was unmistakably the latter. From the first green flag at Daytona in January to the final checkered in October at Road Atlanta, the Spanish-led outfit showed a mastery of endurance and execution that few could match.
Their record speaks for itself: five wins, seven podiums, nine top-tens, and only two real missteps — a disappointing result at Daytona and a battered run at Road America that left them four laps down and briefly dented their confidence. But when it mattered most, the team answered emphatically.
At the season finale, the fourth annual Petit Le Mans, the #51 Cadillac returned to form, winning both the race and the 2025 SportsCar Championship — a poetic end to a ten-month marathon that tested teams not just in speed, but in stamina.
From the Roar to Road Atlanta
The campaign began with promise and turbulence. The car topped The Roar Before the 24, only to find itself entangled in chaos a week later during the 24 Hours of Daytona, collecting damage, drive-throughs, and post-race penalties in a weekend that tested their composure more than their pace.
But as the old saying goes, "It’s not how you start, it’s how you recover." From there, Carlos Hernandez G., Álvaro Martínez, and Dani Fonte turned adversity into fuel. Wins at Sebring, Laguna Seca, CTMP, and Watkins Glen marked a mid-season surge that defined the title fight and put the team in excellent shape for the summer break. Even the heartbreaks — like a fatal engine failure at Road America — couldn’t shake their rhythm.
By the time they arrived at Road Atlanta, the championship was theirs to lose. Instead, they delivered a masterclass under pressure, taking the race win and clinching the title by a commanding 450-point margin over Rising Panda Racing.
Teamwork as a Trademark
What made this run remarkable wasn’t just the results, but the rotating cast that produced them. Over the course of the season, seven different drivers took turns in the #51 cockpit — a feat not easy to manage successfully in top-class endurance competition. For team owner David Trueba, that wasn’t chaos; it was the plan.
"There’s something that defines our team, since its founding: teamwork," Trueba said. "Seven different drivers have been behind the wheel of our #51 during the season. That speaks tremendously well of us, and it’s our true strength."
Trueba called the Petit Le Mans victory his favorite memory of the year — not just because it secured both the SportsCar Championship and the Endurance Cup, but because it represented a perfect closing chapter. "What a feeling! We rounded out the year with the grand finale. Some of the guys could probably make a living as dancers — the celebration videos will stay private," he said while laughing out loud.
Triumphs, Trials, and a Toast to Sebring
For Álvaro Martínez, one of the mainstays of the lineup, the journey carried both joy and endurance. "Sebring was a blast," Martínez recalled. "After the bad taste at Daytona, that win reaffirmed that we had the speed and determination to fight for the title."
He also didn’t shy away from the lows. "Road America was painful — four laps down with a broken engine. Daytona and Road America have dragged us down before; hopefully next year we can change that."
Despite the emotional swings of a year that stretched from winter through autumn, motivation never waned. "From 2022 on, my only goal for the year is to race in VSCA and do my best," Martínez said. "When race week arrives, we’re always eager to go."
The post-race plan? Simple. "Now let’s celebrate with some good beers," Martínez said. "Then, back to work — because this doesn’t stop."
A Championship Worth the Wait
For Dani Fonte, who helped the team to multiple key victories, this championship was the culmination of persistence. "We really like this series," he said. "After winning the Sprint Cup last year, taking the overall title this time feels amazing. There are always ups and downs, but when good results come, you just want more."
Fonte also hinted at what’s next. "The offseason is all about preparation. Strong new opponents have emerged, so we’ll need to raise our level again. But first — a good meal and a few beers."
Cementing Their Legacy
By year’s end, World Of SimRacing Team stood atop the VSCA GTP mountain. They weren’t the fastest every weekend, nor the flashiest. But like a veteran craftsman shaping something lasting, they turned precision into an art form and made consistency their signature.
Their Cadillac might have carried the V-Series badge, but it was the "C" — for cohesion, commitment, and craftsmanship — that truly defined their season.
As one chapter closes, another begins — and if the smiles, laughter, and beer-clinking from Road Atlanta are any indication, the #51 crew won’t be easing off anytime soon.
